The following poem came to me as I was developing this site. It is decidedly darker, about love lost, in case you prefer not reading something along those lines. For a more famous "lost love" poem, you can read Edgar Allan Poe's "Annabel Lee" as well.

Loveletter

by Steve McCardell

Loveletter, Loveletter,

I'll never regret Her

Who stayed by my side till the eve that She died.

Loveletter, Loveletter,

The stain on Her sweater

Is darker than I and is loud as a lie.

Loveletter, Loveletter,

Forgive me my debtor

Who swept Her away in the game that he played.

Loveletter, Loveletter,

If dead could be deader

Could life live again to a timelier end?

Loveletter, Loveletter,

I'll try to be better

In all that I be in the mem'ry of She.

Loveletter, Loveletter,

I'll never forget Her

Who stayed by my side till the eve that She died.
